Bible School: Discipling and Training Leaders
Partnering with the ministry of Via Abundante, we are seeing communities changed through our missionaries Jonathan & Dani Bowden. The Bible school, under their direction, is a one-year discipleship and leadership program. Most students are new believers from surrounding villages. Transportation is provided for them. They also receive room and board and are taught the Word of God by both missionaries and nationals in Hausa, the local language. Since many are illiterate, they are required to attend the literacy program.
Literacy: Educating the Illiterate
Each village church conducts a 4-month literacy program for the people in their village. The Hausa language is taught so that they learn to read and write in their native tongue. Bible stories are used in the program as an evangelistic tool.
Village Ministry: Evangelizing and Church Planting
Evangelism in the village usually begins through outdoor meetings in the main square. As people accept Christ, a graduate from the leadership program will be sent to pastor the new believers. Land is purchased for the pastor’s housing, farmland, and the church. A straw structure for services is built until a permanent building can be constructed. The pastor is responsible for the ongoing teaching of the Word of God through weekly services.
Primary School: Reaching the Neighborhood
Ginger became the principal in 2007, two years after its opening. The school complex is surrounded by a developing community. Over 80% of the children attending come from Muslim families. Her staff consists of Christian nationals, who have opportunity to bring the love of Jesus, to provide a good education for the children, and to influence the families in the way of the Lord.
